We all wash our face… right?
But splashing your face with water, using a makeup wipe, or doing a quick swipe of micellar water isn't quite the same as properly cleansing your skin.
And here's the thing:
Not everyone's skin needs the same cleanser.
The goal? BALANCE.
Not too oily. Not too dry. Skin that feels comfortable, healthy and supported.
So let's make this easy.
Find Your Skin Below 👇🏽
NORMAL / BALANCED
Not too oily. Not too dry. Your skin is pretty much just… happy?
Lucky you. 😂 Now let's keep it that way.
Choose a gentle cleanser that removes oil, sunscreen and daily buildup without disrupting the balance you already have.
Your goal: Maintain the balance.
OILY
Do you find yourself constantly trying to mattify the shine on your face—sometimes every hour? 👀
Oil isn't the enemy. Your skin needs it.
A gentle foaming or gel cleanser can help remove excess oil without stripping your skin.
If you're also congestion-prone, salicylic acid may be helpful—but oily skin doesn't automatically mean you need an active cleanser every day.
Your goal: Balance the oil—not declare war on it. 😂
COMBINATION
Oily T-zone…but your cheeks didn't get the memo?
That's combination skin.
Don't treat your entire face like it's oily just because your forehead, nose or chin produces more oil.
Choose a gentle cleanser that removes excess oil without stripping the areas that need hydration.
Your goal: Protect the oil you need + hydrate where you need it.
DRY
Does your skin feel tight or uncomfortable after cleansing?
Your cleanser may be doing too much.
Look for a gentle, creamy or hydrating cleanser that leaves your skin feeling soft and comfortable—not squeaky clean.
And please… put the hot water down. 😂
Your goal: Cleanse without stripping + support hydration.
MATURE
Your skin doesn't feel quite the way it used to?
As our skin matures, it can become drier and more delicate, so this isn't the time to start scrubbing harder.
Choose a gentle, hydrating cleanser and treat your skin kindly.
Your goal: Cleanse + protect + support your skin's moisture.
SENSITIVE / ROSACEA-PRONE
Does your skin seem to get angry at EVERYTHING?
Then we're keeping things simple.
Choose a mild, gentle cleanser, skip the scrubbing and very hot water, and avoid ingredients you already know trigger your skin.
Your goal: Cleanse while protecting your skin barrier and minimizing irritation.
Okay… Did You Find Yourself? 👀
Now go look at the cleanser sitting in your bathroom.
Is it actually doing what YOUR skin needs it to do?
Because buying a “good cleanser” isn't enough.
It needs to be a good cleanser for YOU.
And now that we've figured that out, there's another question I hear all the time:
“Okay, Remi… how often should I actually cleanse?”
Once?
Twice?
Morning?
Night?
And if there were ONE cleanse I absolutely don't want you skipping… which one do you think it is? 👀
Stay tuned, because we're answering that next—and this time…
Come Cleanse With Me.
I'm taking you into my own routine to show you how I cleanse, what I personally use, and some of the cleansers I use in my in my studio.
Until then…
Find your skin. Check your cleanser. And no, that makeup wipe doesn't count. 😂
